Our manufacturing facilities located in Clackamas, OR, Vancouver, WA, and Rock Hill, SC, allow us to serve diverse markets such as Agriculture, Industrial, Municipal, Rental, and Mining.
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Sturtevant, WI, supporting our Wisconsin-based subsidiary as a Cornell employee. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of eddy current drives, clutches, and braking systems, supporting new product innovation and performance improvements. You will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions through design, testing, and real-world application support.
Location: On-site; Sturtevant, WI
Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $125,000 (DOE)
Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as overall fit for the role. This position may be filled at different levels depending on the candidate’s background and expertise.
What You’ll Do:
Lead mechanical design and analysis of eddy current drives, clutches, brakes, and integrated systems
Manage new product development projects, including scope, timelines, and resource coordination
Develop project proposals with market research, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and schedules
Design and analyze mechanical components (bearings, seals, joints) and rotating equipment systems
Apply industry standards and coordinate third-party testing for product certifications
Collaborate with suppliers to support sourcing, development, and technical requirements
Plan, coordinate, and execute product testing, including data analysis and performance evaluation
Investigate field issues and support troubleshooting, including occasional travel as needed
Provide technical support across teams, including sales, manufacturing, and service
Deliver product training to dealers, customers, and internal teams
Contribute to product innovation, application engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
3–8 years of relevant industry experience, including new product development
Proven success managing projects in a fast-paced engineering environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical design, rotating equipment, and electric motors/driven systems
Experience with integrated mechanical and electrical system design
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
Understanding of motor controls and systems (VFDs, PLCs, PID control, etc.)
Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience working on complex assemblies
Familiarity with industry standards, testing, and certification processes
Experience with data analysis, testing, or condition monitoring (preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, or SolidWorks certifications (preferred)
